Documentary Production Capstone

“No Strings Attached” is the final product of my capstone course completed during my Fall 2020 / Spring 2021 semesters. It is a short documentary film delving into my personal experience growing up as a competitive dancer and how the sport impacted my mental health, relationships, and childhood. This film was entirely shot, edited, and produced by me with the help of my professors.

Mornings with Thurston

This is a short fiction film starring my younger brother, Sam Lochkos. Created as my final project in my Filmmaking 1 course, it parodies a stereotypical fraternity guy and what one would imagine his morning routine entails.

When COVID struck and I moved home for rest of the semester, I felt a need to feed my creative outlet. I dug out my old Nikon CoolPix digital camera and captured random moments of my days during this odd time. I wanted to highlight the certain things about life during what was such an uncertain time; seasons changing, family, home, music, and most importantly, coffee.

Staying Home

Created for my Story, Sound, and Motion course, this was my first real swing at documentary storytelling. The task was to highlight someone and what they do for a living. I chose my mom and told her story of being a stay at home mom. Albeit some of the lighting and framing is wacky, I love to look back at this to see how far I’ve come and how much I’ve learned as a filmmaker.

2018

Long before I decided to go into media production, I always had a passion for capturing memories in my life. This is a compilation of many happy moments during high school that I made as an homage to my pals.

San Francisco 2018

Unlike the typical senior spring break trip to Mexico, I went to visit my Aunt and Grandma in San Francisco with my mom. Similar to the above video, I was simply capturing anything and everything I was experiencing with my GoPro. It’s amateur, but is another moment where I was just doing what I love.
